Midwifery Care

** I am currently taking a break from attending births to focus on lactation support and in-home postpartum care for families planning hospital births. I am available to customize care packages. **

 Prenatal Care

  • Initial prenatal visit, including a full medical history, nutrition and lifestyle counseling

  • Most laboratory testing offered in your home

  • 24/7 Availability to clients by phone and email for urgent questions and concerns

  • Hour-long prenatal visits offered every month to 28 weeks, then every two weeks to 36 weeks, then every week until delivery, or as necessary according to your individual needs

  • Medical consultation and referral available as necessary

  • Extensive local resource network available for doula services, acupuncture, massage, chiropractors, etc.

Labor and Birth Attendance

  • Homebirth services from 37 to 42 weeks of pregnancy

  • Round-the-clock availability of midwife

  • Continuous care and support during active labor and the birth

  • Waterbirth - labor and/or deliver your baby in a tub (rental or your own)

  • Second qualified midwife to assist during the birth, met near 36 week appointment

  • All Necessary emergency equipment and medication are at each birth and midwives certified in CPR and Neonatal Resuscitation.

  • Medical consultation, referral and transfer available as necessary

  • Continued support by the midwives in the hospital if transfer becomes necessary

Postpartum Care for Mother and Baby

  • Continuous care and support by the midwife team in the immediate postpartum period

  • Complete physical exam of the newborn after birth

  • Administration of Vitamin K and/or Erythromycin eye ointment for newborn, if desired

  • California Newborn Screening provided at home, on day 3 visit

  • Breastfeeding support and referral to local IBCLC consultants if needed

  • Availability to clients by phone anytime for urgent questions and concerns

  • Regular postpartum visits for the mother and baby, including home visits on days 1 and 3, week 1, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 6 weeks, or as necessary according to your individual needs

Well Woman Care

Bliss Midwifery offers GYN and women's health services which include:

  • Regular Pap tests and exams, including breast exams

  • Birth control consultation and referrals

  • Fertility awareness and preconception counseling
